I received excellent treatment at the VA!

Sometimes I blog about something good that happened. Today I went to the VA clinic right here in town by my house. I have been suffering from a ear ache for about a week and finally gave up on home remedies and decided to see the doctor.

My VA clinic was like a whole new place. Lots of happy faces! The doctor that had been there sucking all the oxygen out of the place was no longer there and a brand new happy Doctor had taken his place. They had also hired a Advanced Practice Registered Nurse to deal with patients.

I got seen and treated and walked out with meds and supplies for flushing out my ear and cold packs. Best treatment I have ever received at a Veteran's clinic in my 23 year history of using the VA. and it is right here in Laughlin less than a mile from my house!

It was a long time getting squared away but it is actually starting to look like a clinic and the people working there are happy working there and that makes a difference. Laughlin just got a whole lot better for the veteran community living here. These people actually care about taking care of the vets and I for one am damned grateful.

  1. GREAT NEWS! It is about time that the veterans clinics are changing for the better. My dad went to our local (or should I say not-so local) VA hospital where he got his hearing aids and such.

VERY happy to hear this Mr. Rat!

    1. The improvements at this clinic are remarkable! I damn near teared up with receiving such treatment without a fight or battle or argument. I hope it continues and this one time was not a fluke!

  2. I am glad you had good success at the VA. Although you of course may have a different opinion, I am of the mindset where I firmly believe we need universal health care for all in the US. I think it is ludicrous that your job is the determiner on whether you have health care. Don't get me wrong, ObamaCare is/was crap too IMO, and I am sure whatever tRump changes it to will also be crap. I feel we need universal health care for all that is equal. I look at it as something that should be a right for all US citizens. If we got rid of all the different insurance companies and had one system, we would save all this middle-man expense, and it would save clinicians too.... The amount they have to spend for working through the paperwork of so many different billing systems bloats the costs to the extreme. And, prescription costs.... Outrageous and yet so fixable.

    1. I do support health care for all. I think socialized medicine is the practical approach. I also agree that the insurance companies smack dab in the middle of the thing is the problem. Of course, wages would have to increase in order for taxes to increase so America could provide everything people in France enjoy for example. Another area where greed is obvious is college tuition. I'm sure you agree that money is not being spent of teacher's wages. Student loans cripple people starting out. You shouldn't be paying back student loans in your 40's. No my socialist leanings might surprise you Professor! I am glad to see you here once again. thanks for your comment.
